Bridging visas are granted to let you stay in Australia at the same time as you’re anticipating a utility to be processed, or to offer lawful popularity at the same time as you are making preparations to leave the country.
If a BVB expires before the holder can return to Australia, they will need to apply for another visa (such as a short-stay tourist visa) once the travel restrictions are lifted. Decisions on visitor visa applications will be made on a case-by-case basis. Once disembarked, the person will need to apply for a BVA to remain legal after the tourist visa expires.

| The A Transitional Visa (BVA) is a temporary visa. It allows you to stay in Australia after your current content visa has expired and while your content visa application is being processed. It can be granted if you apply for a content visa in Australia while you still have a content visa. The BVA does not allow you to return to Australia if you are leaving. | The A Transit B (BVB) visa is a temporary visa. It allows you to leave and return to Australia while your basic visa application is being processed. Provided you return to Australia within the specified travel period, the BVB will allow you to stay in Australia while your base visa application is being processed. You can have a major visa and a BVB at the same time. | The C Transit Visa (BVC) is a temporary visa. It allows you to stay in Australia while your important visa application is being processed. The BVC can be granted if you are applying for a content visa in Australia but do not already have a content visa. The BVC does not allow you to return to Australia if you leave. | The D-Bridge visa (BVD) is a temporary visa. If your content visa has expired, it allows you to stay in Australia legally for a short time until you can apply for a content visa, make arrangements to leave Australia or apply for a transition visa. E. (BVE). It does not allow you to work or return to Australia if you leave. | The Transit E visa (BVE) is a temporary visa. If your content visa has expired, it allows you to stay in Australia legally while you make exit arrangements, complete your immigration application or wait for an immigration decision.
